Robert E. Howard:
The Man Behind The Myth

- Part 1 of the documentary -

OVERVIEW:
An in-depth, biographical look at Robert E. Howard, the “Father of Sword & Sorcery” literature.

SYNOPSIS:
Robert E. Howard was a Texas author during the Depression-era. He is primarily known for his Fantasy characters, most notably Kull the Conqueror and Conan the Barbarian, and is generally regarded as “The Father of Sword & Sorcery.”

Yet his life has been enshrouded in mysteries and falsehoods. Our goal is to show the real Robert E. Howard and make people aware of his contribution to literature, as well as his influence in art, movies, comics and other forms of media.

Howard wrote 21 Conan stories in a three year period, including his only story to become a full-length novel, Hour of the Dragon, in less than 4 months, an amazing feat. The majority of his work appeared in the pulp magazine Weird Tales, quickly becoming one of the magazines best loved authors.

He died tragically at the age of 30, just hours before the death of his comatose mother.
